What is Scalp Micropigmentation?
Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-surgical procedure that uses a microneedle to “tattoo” pigment into the scalp one dot at a time to mimic the appearance of hair follicles. It is suitable for male and female clients, all stages of hair Los and skin types.
Scalp Micropigmentation(SMP) can restore the look of a head full of hair. For clients that may have scarring due to surgeries, burns, birth marks or hair transplants, smp can be used to camouflage the area dramatically.
Scalp To Fade is owned by Cherisse Jameson who is extremely dedicated and passionate about servicing the men and women who are struggling with hair loss. She is a certified SMP technician as well as a licensed cosmetologist. She is proud to offer the best SMP services to help rebuild her client’s confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the first step?
We start out with a consultation where we will discuss expectations; shape and position your hairline(if necessary), density and the shade of pigment. We will also do a patch test and schedule your first treatment.
- How long does each treatment last?
The amount of time varies but typically lasts from 3-5 hours. Each subsequent session usually takes less time as we add more density.
- What is the recovery time?
There is no down time for the treatment. You can return to work that same day. There will be slight redness for 24-48 hours.
- Does it hurt?
This will vary wildly as everyone has a different tolerance level. Some clients have fallen asleep while others say their pain level is about a 4-5 out of 10. Overall the benefits have outweighed the discomfort of the experience.
- Are there side effects?
Scalp micropigmetation has little to no side effects. A patch test can be performed a few days to a week prior to your first session. Note: your scalp will be a little red after each treatment and the dots will be larger and darker as your skin begins to heal. As it heals, tiny scabs will form and fall off taking a bit of pigment with it.
- What maintenance is involved?
No shampooing, moisturizing or sweating of the scalp for the first 4 days. After that you can resume most of your routine. For men, we recommend shaving with a foil shaver. By day 10 an electric shaver can be used. Because of naturally occurring fading, typically SMP treatment should last 3-6 years.
